Join Congregation Kehillath Israel and Congregation Mishkan Tefila in welcoming Jacob's Ladder as part of their regular motzei Shabbat series.  Gather in the CMT Sanctuary for light refreshments followed by a night of singing, community building, and Jewish bluegrass!

Melaveh Malkah, literally “Escorting The Queen, is the Jewish term for the transition from the experience and prominence of our “Shabbat Queen” into the weekday.  In the spirit of this tradition, Jacob’s Ladder leads the community in a special musical gathering as we say goodbye to Shabbat with a familiar kavannah (intention) reminiscent of its grand welcoming. Experience the magic of the musical energy and soul-clenching melodies, and feel the presence of community, new and old friends, and deep Jewish connection.

Jacob's Ladder is a band seeking to push the boundaries of contemporary Jewish music and traditional American Roots music through Jewish communal singing and prayer. In melding these two identities, they tell their musical story through Eastern European Ashkenazic and Sephardic Jewish traditions, but also through their American heritage and its influence on their unique musical style.

Registration is required. Donations optional and appreciated.

Inviting all people who play an instrument, and love to sing, to gather and make music as a community! We'll learn some of the Jacob’s Ladder classics and other popular melodies from our Melaveh Malkah series, learn some grooves, and come together as an ensemble to make beautiful music! For those who come to this jam/rehearsal, you are invited to bring your instrument Saturday night for a communal gathering where we will showcase some of the melodies! Lead sheets will be provided.

Playing an instrument is not required for this program. If you plan on bringing an instrument with you Saturday night, we ask that you come Thursday night to rehearse!
