HHD Youth Services 5786

As the High Holidays approach, and you begin to set your plans and consider which adult services you will attend, we want your children to have meaningful and spiritual experiences, as well. For this reason, we will be offering youth services and programming.

The expectation for all children below 9th grade in the building is that they are either in the designated childcare room or in their family's respective service. Children should not be left unattended in the building. Each age group will have one hour of educational programming; from 10:00 to 11:00 am on Rosh Hashanah and from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm on Yom Kippur.

Ages 18 months - 2nd grade:
There will be drop-off childcare for ages 18 months through 2nd grade, split between three rooms divided by age. Children will not be able to leave these childcare rooms independently. Parents will need to come and accompany their children if they would like them to participate in the main services with them. Childcare providers will come to find parents if necessary.

3rd Grade - 5th Grade:
There will be drop-off childcare for 3rd to 5th graders. If you feel comfortable with your child walking independently between the childcare room and the sanctuaries, you may indicate that here on this form. If yes, your child may tell the childcare providers that s/he wants to go to the sanctuary (KI/CMT) to find their parents and will be allowed to do so. Children are expected to be either in the childcare room, or in services, and only walking directly between the two locations. If your child is found by our staff anywhere else in the building, they will be brought directly to you. You'll be asked to stay with them and attend to their needs for the remaining time you are on campus.

Middle School:
There will be a middle school hangout room in the chapel. This room will be supervised by one individual, but we are intentionally not referring to it as "babysitting.”  Middle schoolers are trusted to be able to come and go from the hangout room as they please, but again they should be either in the hangout room or in services. If your middle schooler is found by our staff anywhere else in the building, they will be brought directly to you. You'll be asked to stay with them and attend to their needs for the remaining time you are on campus.

Educational programming will be available on the first two days of Rosh Hashanah and during the day of Yom Kippur. Kol Nidrei and Neilah will only include drop-off babysitting. Educational programming will be age appropriate for children 4 to 11 years old.
